WHY INSULATED ROOFING?
Enhance your outdoor space with insulated roofing.
Standard steel roofing does the job, but in a Perth summer it radiates heat downward and turns your patio into a furnace by two in the afternoon. Insulated panels change that equation entirely — a polystyrene core between two steel faces blocks the heat before it reaches the space below.
The result is a patio you actually use through January. Cooler in summer, warmer on winter evenings, and quiet under rain — the whole thing feels less like an outdoor structure and more like a room. Custom-designed for your home, with your choice of Colorbond® colours, fabricated in-house at our Welshpool workshop.

Temperature Control
Keeps your outdoor space cooler in summer and warmer in winter — usable every month of the year.
Energy Savings
Less heat transfer means less reliance on fans and air-conditioning — lower bills, better comfort.
Rain Silent
The insulated core deadens rain noise — no drumming on hot afternoons or stormy evenings.
Built to Last
BlueScope® steel facing on both sides. Engineered to Australian standards, tested in WA conditions.

Materials, dimensions, process.
Materials.
BlueScope® steel facing on the top and underside, with a high-performance polystyrene core. Finished in Colorbond® — available in two systems: SolarSpan® (Bondor) and Cooldek® (Stratco). Both are fabricated to Australian standards.
Dimensions.
Panels span up to 7m between supports — reducing the need for rafters and framework, which gives you a clean, uncluttered ceiling-like finish. Available in 50mm, 75mm and 100mm thicknesses for different thermal performance requirements.
Process.
Free onsite measure, engineering, council approval, then fabrication in our Welshpool workshop. The modular panel design reduces build time and cost compared to traditional roofing with separate insulation layers. Four to eight weeks, signed quote to handover.
Frequently asked questions
In Perth's climate, an R-value around RT5.07 provides excellent thermal resistance, keeping your space cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Both SolarSpan® and Cooldek® panels are available in thicknesses that meet or exceed this target.
Insulated roofing turns a standard patio into a comfortable outdoor room — cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and quiet under rain. Here's what you need to know before you build.
Why insulated roofing?
- Blocks heat transfer for year-round comfort
- Deadens rain and hail noise
- Reduces reliance on fans and air-conditioning
- Clean ceiling-like finish underneath
- Spans large areas with fewer structural supports
SolarSpan® vs Cooldek® — what's the difference?
Both systems use BlueScope® steel faces with an insulated core, but they differ in design. SolarSpan® is a structural sandwich panel — no rafters needed — making it ideal for clean-lined alfresco spaces. Cooldek® is optimised for long spans (up to 7m) and has built-in channels for concealing electrical wiring for lights, fans and audio.
We'll recommend the right system for your home and budget during the free onsite consultation.
Colorbond® colour options
Both systems are available across the full Colorbond® colour range — topside, underside and framing can be specified to complement or match your home. No extra charge for colour choice.
LED downlights
Insulated panels are designed to integrate LED downlights directly into the ceiling surface. Bondor offers a 9W UltraSlim kit for SolarSpan®; Stratco offers 12W, 5W and 3W options for Cooldek®. We design your lighting layout at the build stage so everything is pre-wired and perfectly placed.
Approvals and process
We manage the building permit with your local shire — from engineering drawings to council lodgement — so you don't lodge anything yourself. Free onsite measure and quote, fabrication in our Welshpool workshop, installation in four to eight weeks from signed quote.
